FAQs

What do we want to accomplish?
We want to change the world through entrepreneurship. We want to create business ideas that attempt to solve social issues economically.

What can you do to help the never-ending list of social issues?
Simply, start. Do something or anything. Making phone calls, referring people to us, helping get donations, look for successful social entrepreneurs, and much more. Be creative. You know of a social issue that troubles you, think of something that could make that change. You can make change quickly or slowly, either way doing something is better then nothing. At the very least YOU can tell people about THIS club, tell them what WE are trying to do. Social Entrepreneur Club. Changing the world together.

What is a Social Entrepreneur?

It is a group or individual that starts a business that helps solve social issues. Entrepreneurs start businesses, but not all entrepreneurs are business people. Many entrepreneurs are inventors, chemists, scientists, doctors, lawyers, and many more. Starting a business does not mean that you are money-hungry greedy individual, it means that you are looking to become self sufficient while providing a product or service to your community. Social Entrepreneurs simply make business that deal with social issues, either for-profit or non-profit.

Why join?

It will be a chance for everyone to change the world. If there is enough of us, we can make the change that is needed. Enough minds working towards a common goal will create unforeseen change. This will also be a great opportunity to get to know people and network. Remember it is not always what you know but who you know that counts.

Why Social Entrepreneurs? Why not something else that deals with social issues?

We believe that business will ultimately make the most change. Since commerce and industry are the driving force to the American way of living, social change must happen with profit making business.

Why for-profit-based not just non-profits?

Non-profits are still very much encouraged. However, it is well known that profitable businesses are able to expand more rapidly while making a greater influence and a larger number of people. Not to say that non-profits cannot reach the same level, because they can. However, profit businesses can attract investors simply for the great investment opportunity that it can and will provide, regardless of what the business is trying to do.

Take oil companies for example, people invest in oil companies because they are profitable businesses and there is a good chance of a favorable return. It doesn’t prove that people believe what the oil companies are doing? it just means they want a favorable return.
